Massage Therapy in Raleigh, NC
Raleigh’s best chiropractic practice offers a few types of massage therapy treatments to help his patients with their muscular, tissue and joint health. At Raleigh Central Chiropractic and Rehab, Dr. Ward offers three styles of massage; relaxation, deep tissue, and swedish. Below is a brief summary of each massage type benefit and how it is performed.
A relaxation massage typically focuses on the neck muscles and shoulders, where much tension is held, as well as the muscles of the back, legs, and feet for head-to-toe soothing. This type of massage is entirely customizable. Dr. Ward will tailor the massage to the needs and preferences of the client and increase or decrease pressure accordingly. Gentle and soothing, relaxation massages involve rubbing and kneading of the upper tissue layers. Once the massage is complete, the client should feel relieved, relaxed, and recharged.
Deep Tissue Massage in Raleigh, NC
Deep tissue massages are slightly different than that of a relaxation massage. Being that it requires a more intense, controlled pressure, Dr. Ward will discuss and assess any injury, accident, or general stiffness before performing any deep tissue massage treatments. During the massage, the intense pressure on the tight, achy area will relax the rigid tissue, resulting in long term pain relief.
Swedish massage therapy is considered the hybrid of therapy and relaxation. Being typically referred to as the ideal “beginner’s massage,” one can expect gentle pressure and friction that soothe both muscles and joints. Swedish massages are generally used with massage oils to assist with gliding, kneading, and stretching type of strokes. With a high focus on comfort, this massage style ranges from light to firm pressure based upon the preference of client and goal of the therapist.
